Special tips – highlights in the Maremma region near il Salotto, Wines & Resorts

We have compiled a few special highlights for you that you might not have expected to find in Tuscany but that you should not miss out on in any case. What are your personal highlights, i.e. things that people should not miss out on in any case? Please write us and we'll gladly add your tips.

1. Terme di Saturnia

Not far from the village of Saturnia, the greatest treasure of the Maremma has been gushing from the ground for more than 3,000 years: sulphurous, turquoise and warm thermal water. Prominent visitors from all across the globe come here to bathe in the healing waters. A part of the thermal bath belongs to the eponymous Terme di Saturnia golf resort. Most visitors use the free, public part of the thermal bath to enjoy the pleasantly soft water. From our il Salotto resort, you can reach the thermal bath in 30 minutes by car. That even makes a brief visit worth it after an eventful vacation day. We highly recommend a visit in the spring, autumn or winter when the days are not quite as hot.

2. Dolphin watching on the Tuscan coast

Few people know that the coast of Tuscany is part of the Mediterranean whale sanctuary that is overseen by the United Nations.  The CE.TU.S Center is a non-profit organisation that specialises in observing and researching whales, such as fin whales or sperm whales as well as dolphins in the Pelagos sanctuary. It is based in Viareggio, which is approx. 1 hour and 45 minutes north of il Salotto. For all nature and water enthusiasts, this offers a unique opportunity: to better get to know these large mammals of the Mediterranean in the wild on a 12-metre catamaran guided by an experienced crew and biologists. You can book tours from 1 to 3 days.

Surprise your kids with a one-of-a-kind adventure.
